It was thought hitherto the extant manuscripts of this translation were limited to those available in Leiden, Britania and Manchester libraries. The authors of the present paper have found some manuscripts of the Arabic translation of Heron's treatise in Iran's libraries, in addition to several Persian treatises. These Arabic manuscripts are important for completing the works already undertaken by some orientalists such as Carra de Vaux, Nix and Schmidt. The Persian manuscripts were inspired by Qusta's translation. It is tried in the present paper to present a brief but comprehensive introduction of all of Qusta's manuscripts, in order to provide the necessary background for the future studies. The life of Heron has also been shortly investigated, especially to make the date of the original treatise of crane clear as it has been in a veil of obscurity. ترجمۀ عربی رسالۀ <em>جرثقیل</em> هرون به قلم قسطا بن لوقا، در غیاب اصل یونانی آن، از مهم‌ترین متونِ مکانیک بر جای مانده در تمدن اسلامی است. پیش از این، تصور می‌شد که نسخه‌های موجود از این ترجمه، منحصر به نسخه‌های کتابخانه‌های لیدن، بریتانیا و منچستر است. نویسندگان این مقاله در تفحص گسترده خود ضمن یافتن شماری نسخۀ <em>جرثقیل</em> به فارسی در کتابخانه‌های مختلف ایران، به چند نسخه از ترجمۀ عربی رسالۀ <em>جرثقیل</em> هرون نیز دست یافتند که در تکمیل کارهای خاورشناسانی مانند کارادوو، نیکز و اسمیت بسیار حایز اهمیت است. نسخه‌های فارسی <em>جرثقیل </em>که کتابت آنها تا سدۀ 13ق در ایران ادامه داشته، ملهم از ترجمۀ قسطا بوده است. در مقالۀ حاضر کوشیده‌ایم همۀ نسخه‌های قسطا به صورت اجمال، ولی همه جانبه معرفی گردد. به زندگانی هرون نیز به اجمال پرداخته‌ایم تا به‌ویژه موضوع مبهم تاریخ تألیف رسالۀ <em>جرثقیل </em>روشن شود. https://jhic.ut.ac.ir/article_71960_c81eb766409ff2c0eabe19e10b3fa4f9.pdf
