Attention to "tradition" as a key concept to understanding the history, hadith, jurisprudence and principles of Islamic beliefs is very important. The purpose of this study is to explore the development and function of tradition from the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him) to the end of the Rashid Caliphate era, with an emphasis on the rule of Amir al-Mu'minān Ali. Some findings suggest that tradition in the era of the Three Caliphs was a means of justifying the caliphate's legitimacy and the organization of the state. However, the social functions of the tradition in the era of Amir al-Mu'minān did not depend solely on the legitimacy of the state and it tends to lead to a concept in solving social problems. Therefore, that in the short period of his reign tradition (Sunnah) became one of the most important criteria for the recognition of right from wrong, guidance, heresy, seduction, and governance alongside the Book of God. سیره و سنت رسول خدا(ص) از صدر اسلام مورد توجه بوده است. توجه به سنت به عنوان مفهومی که می­تواند کلید فهم تاریخ، حدیث، فقه و اصول اعتقادات اسلامی باشد، از اهمیت بسیاری برخوردار است. مسئله این پژوهش تکوین مفهوم و کارکرد سنت از زمان پیامبر اسلام(ص) تا پایان عصر خلفای راشدین با تاکید بر حکومت امیرمومنان علی(ع) است. برخی یافته­ها حاکی از آن است که سنت در عصر خلفای سه­گانه ابزاری برای توجیه مشروعیت خلیفه و ساماندهی حکومت بود، اما کارکرد­های اجتماعی سنت در دوره امیرمومنان(ع) صرفا منوط به مشروعیت حکومت نیست و به سوی مفهومی راه­گشا در حل معضلات و مخاطرات اجتماعی میل می­نماید. به صورتی که در مدت کوتاه حکومت ایشان سنت به یکی از مهم­ترین معیارهای شناخت حق از باطل، هدایت، بدعت­، فتنه­ و حکومت­داری در کنار کتاب خدا تبدیل شد. https://jhic.ut.ac.ir/article_72690_313a1b61941e68378c5c7e184b03d22f.pdf
